Casual Hotels has raised 5,700 euros for UNICEF in one year.
The Valencian hotel chain signed an agreement in January 2017 to be part of the 'Friends of UNICEF Hotels' program and today it is delivering a check with the money collected.
From the reception department of each of its 11 establishments, each client is informed of the campaign, as well as the reason for the collaboration, and is urged to collaborate with a donation of 1 euro. Thanks to this initiative, Casual Hotels today presents UNICEF with a check worth 5,700 euros, which will go to combat commercial sexual exploitation of children in the Dominican Republic.
“We are committed to social responsibility. Ever since we learned about this project, it was clear to us that we wanted to collaborate with this cause for the protection of children”, affirms the CEO of Casual Hotels, Juan Carlos Sanjuán. 'Hotels friends of UNICEF' is a UNICEF Spanish Committee project that arose to generate a solidarity movement in the tourism sector to combat commercial sexual exploitation of children in the Dominican Republic.
With Casual Hotels joining the program, the hotel chain has become a platform for communication and mobilization, both for clients and employees, to promote children's rights. "For us it is essential to support this type of action to protect the most defenseless," adds Sanjuán.
The 5,700 euros raised will go to combat the commercial sexual exploitation of children in the Dominican Republic, a very important tourist destination where thousands of children who suffer violence and abuse live. From UNICEF they work to strengthen the environment that protects children from abuse and violence.
The Amigos Hotels program is an example of the joint work that allows companies in the tourism sector to become social actors that collaborate with the organization in programs for the protection and defense of children's rights.
